ironcove.net aims to provide organisations with:

  • awareness of tools and resources to allow work in a productive and secure computing environment in pursuit of goals that are compatiable with the Unviersal Declaration of Human Rights.
  • awareness of secure computing tools and resources to enable protection from those who work to deny those rights.

Security is the process of maintaining an acceptable level of perceived risk. Risk is a measure of danger to an asset.

risk = threat x vulnerability x asset value

Now what does all that mean to you and your organisation? Well it means Information Technology Security is not just for the big corporates or for the home user doing internet banking. It is a reality and a requirement for anyone who works with the internet.

For many organisations a major asset in the above equation that is often overlooked are contributors, supporters and employees. The identities and communications of these individuals must be protected.

The range of threats to an organisation can be wide and varied, from Malware (virus and worm) activity to hostile political opponents - all of an organisations systems and processes should be evaluated on a regular basis.
